AEQUIPA

Physical activity is a key contributor to healthy ageing. In spite of the widely known beneficial effects, only a small proportion of older adults are physically active. AEQUIPA is a regional prevention research network comprising six universities, two research institutes and the health economy organisation of the Bremen-Oldenburg metropolitan region. The network's core themes are promoting physical activity among older adults (65+).

NFDI4Health Webinar: Secure Processing Environments

The new webinar series on Secure Processing Environments (SPEs) examines the future of secure data analysis in health research.

Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of SPEs, including their role in enabling safe and efficient use of sensitive health data and supporting FAIR principles. Perspectives from three key stakeholder groups — data users, data holders, and technology providers — are shown to offer insights into their roles, challenges, and priorities. Real-world case studies, practical guidance, and interactive discussions provide insights into the effective implementation and use of SPEs and can initiate a community building process. NFDI4Healths invites you to the first introductory session:

The Five Safes principles
As an introduction to the workshop series we outline key components of secure and effective data sharing in biomedical research. It introduces the Five Safes framework, covering safe people, projects, data, settings, and outputs as a foundation for governance. The role of networking in enabling collaboration and trust-building across institutions is highlighted. Strategies for data release are discussed, including mechanisms that allow users to assess data availability while preserving confidentiality. Guidance is provided on designing transparent data release processes, alongside required documentation to support compliant data transfer. Finally, standard procedures for secure, efficient data transfer are summarized, supporting responsible and reproducible research practices.

Date & Time: 15. April 2026
Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Ulrich Sax
Format: online via zoom | podcast style with a moderator and audience interaction
